Covered Wagons, Chuckwagons, Sheepwagons, Conestoga Wagons,

Covered wagons, chuckwagons, stagecoaches, sheepwagons and our newest conestoga wagon have been used in our various events in Montana and Wyoming. Some of the pictures are from Billings, Huntley, Laurel, Hardin, Crow Agency, Bluerock, and Red Lodge, Montana, while others are from Lander, Jackson Hole, and Casper, Wyoming. Wagons of all kinds have been used to move people, animals, food, products, and materials before the invention of motorized vehicles like cars and trucks. Today, western wagons are used in films, movies, commericals, as props in events, gatherings, western weddings, and special pioneer activities in the Big Sky Country of Montana. Horses and mules are used to move these types of wagons.

On certain occasions, more than two horses are used to pull a wagon. 4 horses make what is called a 4-up. The following pictures show some 4-ups as well in the Rocky Mountains. The stagecoach driver or conductor is usually referred to as a muleskinner, one who deals with mules. This webpage was compiled for our pictures of these sheepwagons, covered wagons, stagecoach and chuckwagons. As you can see, cowboys and cowgirls use these wagons to get work done as well. A lot of our wagons are used for wagon trains, cattle drives, and props encircled around campfires like Happy Pappy's Chuckwagon Camp where food and meals are prepared for guest and visitors.

Our western events, adventures, and activities include wagons most of the time. Tour groups and motorcoach travelers going from Pompey's Pillar Rock to Custer's Battle of the Little Big Horn Battlefield use this surprise to get the whole western climate, experience, and effect of the western U.S. For example, the old-fashion wagon rides give an authentic feeling like in the days of the pioneers. This authentic and real-life historic discovery comes full swing as the cowboys, horses and wagons are all in place to bring to pass this staged event called Happy Pappy's Holdup.
